The Wise Report: 3/11/08- When in doubt, break Yao's foot.

The Houston Rockets, on the the heels of Yao Ming's season ending injury have won a nearly incomparable 19 straight (7 without Yao). These are the Rockets I know and love. I may have stated in an earlier post that this was not the time that I wanted Yao to go down, if he had to go down at all, and I agree with my earlier statement, I don't think that Yao going down can possibly have a positive effect on the Rockets in the playoffs but right now it seems to be working.

Two or three years ago I ran into an article in ESPN the magazine concerning a young knuckleballer out of UMaine who everyone said had the stuff to be better than Tim Wakefield. Now, I can't find him anywhere. I assume that he is no longer at UMaine, but he could be there, he may have just fizzled out and never been able to hack it in the minors but I am trying to find this guy, if anyone has any idea who he is or where he is I would appreciate it.

Heres one thing that is pissing me off about the upcoming baseball (or fantasy baseball) season- there are no sleepers anymore. Fantasy baseball has turned into such a business that Yahoo and ESPN pay for national TV air time to promote there FREE games, ESPN employs more writers to cover fantasy baseball than they do to cover hockey. There are no sleepers anymore, there are no more guys who you saw get a cup of coffee 2 years ago and were just sitting on and waiting till they showed up on the available players list. Those guys are already hyped and re-hyped about 14 times before they even get considered on a draft board. This annoys me.

I think we need to add a twist to the all-star break this year. Former Expos versus an AL-NL combined team, the Expos would win- especially with the way both Pedro and Randy are going to pitch this year. LONG LIVE THE O.
