Gonna make this a quick one, as it will almost surely be lost in the mass of opinions to come out today but I want to say this:
LeBron James- you have traded what was essentially a countries worth of respect and a cities worth of love for the hatred of both. You gained "South Beach" and 4-5 seasons of potential excellence and gave up a chance to be considered a top 5 or even top 3 player of all time. No one will ever be able to look at your career and say he was the best when he played, yes you won back to back MVP awards and made 1 Finals but there was always an argument for Kobe as the better player- an argument backed up by rings. Now you sit on a team with Bosh and DWade and get to play some version of co-star in a city that sells out every night even though only half of those people show up to the games... have fun.
Miami Heat- C: Unknown minimum salary; PF: 20/10 Chris Bosh who will be punished by the Dwights, Amares, and Boozers of the East; SF: LeBron James; SG: Dwayne Wade; PG: Hopefully not Mario Chalmers... 6+: who knows.
I just dont see it. Will that team make the playoffs- yes. Will that team beat the 2011 Hawks, Knicks, Bobcats, and whoever else fills the 4-8 seeds in the east- yes. Will that team beat the 2011 Bulls, Celts, and Magic- It is not guaranteed. Will that team beat the 2011 Lakers, Suns, Thunder, Mavs or whoever else wins the West???
The NBA season is a long 82 games, and the East is now looking like the West of the early 00s where heavily stacked teams will be beating on each other for an entire year before the playoffs. The way things are stacking up you will not be able to tank the regular season (a'la the 2010 Celts) and have a shot in the playoffs- you are going to need an upper seed to make sure that you dont face a (we have to win this or we go down in history as one of the biggest mistakes ever) Heat team.
What this Heat team is not: the late 90s Bulls: You could make some argument that LeBron and Wade can equal the combined offensive and defensive production of Pippen and Jordan but the rest of the cast is not there: no Kerr, no Harper, no Kukoc, no Rodman (definitely no Rodman). I like Bosh but he is an offensive PF on a team that is going to need defensive stoppers in the middle, the Suns proved that you can win nearly 60 games playing run and gun but that if teams can force you to slow down in the playoffs you need to be able to take care of business inside and that is not something this team is built for.
